An interesting feature of PCCI elections is the existence of voting family blocs. There are six family voting blocs in the PCCI electorate. Three of the blocs were formed prior to 2005 and 3 were formed after. The blocs constitute thirteen percent (13%) of the total voting members for 2014 of 271.
A voting family bloc consists of husband and wife, father, brother, sister, uncle, aunt, children and in-laws. We do not know of any grandchildren yet. Family blocs tend to vote as one, i.e., for a candidate or candidates, or for a motion, proposal or for a stand on most subject matters. Members of a family voting bloc do not necessarily stay in one roof; in fact some members of a family bloc do not reside in the Philippines and are living abroad or are often out of the country.

Influence beyond family
The influence of family blocs sometimes extends beyond the family. The influence extend in 2 directions—- provincial/regional groups as in Iloilo and Cavite and to affiliated clubs e.g., when a family head is also the top officer of an affiliated club.
Finally when a family head is also a member of the Board of Directors, its influence is multiplied.
Raison d’etre for existence of family blocs
It is difficult to see the relevance, the usefulness of family blocs in the “business” of promoting the dog sport and the interests of PCCI as an association.
